Weihnachtsauto

Now here’s something I don’t think that we’ll be seeing in Germany next week.

Photographed early yesterday morning in a Target parking lot.

Day 30 - Woohoo!!!

Yippee!! I made it to the end of NaBloPoMo!!!

I’m going to go enjoy some time with my husband now. Evenings, after Cupcake bedtime, are usually when we get to exchange a few coherent sentences not interrupted by ‘Yes, I hear you. You played with Maddy today?’ or ‘You need to worry about your own dinner.’ or ‘We don’t do that in our family.’ For the past month poor DH has heard a lot of ‘in a minute - I have to post’ from me. I’ve got some time to make up for.

I’ll be back in a day or two.

Still Sick

and losing patience with it all. The novelty has definitely worn off by now… I’m holding up pretty well during the day, but by the time evening rolls around the headache and sore throat are back in full force and all I want to do is to crawl into bed. Poor me!

I’m going to try doing just that, right now.

Relapse

I guess my plan didn’t work as well as I’d initially thought. I’m right back on the couch in my p.j.’s and DH is right back upstairs bathing the Cupcakes. I went to the doctor today to get a strep test (negative, thank goodness). She told me to go to bed, sleep and eat lots of chicken soup. Maybe I’ll try that this time…

I Can See the Finish Line

This NaBloPoMo thing is kicking my butt. Only seven more posts to go after today…

Thank you to Jenny (whose blog is private, or I’d link to it) for this blog fodder:

“Stupid twins questions: Do you ever dress the girls alike or just in coordinated outfits? I can’t seem to find the coordinated ones as well as matchables. Do you find, like I do, that the girls wait to do something when they are both ready? And what is their favorite food?”

I never dress the girls in matching outfits. That’s just asking for trouble. I end up either calling them by some mangled combination of both their names or, worse yet, just getting it dead wrong. Of course, now that they’re getting bigger they have their own ideas about what they want to wear… and yesterday Papa dressed them. They know that he’s a pushover, so they insisted on wearing identical dresses. And I spent Thanksgiving having a series of conversations that went like this:

Me: H2, put on your shoes please.

Child: I S2!!!!

Me: I’m sorry. S2, put on your shoes please.

S2: No!

Sigh. Did I mention that the Cupcakes are three now?

I don’t have too much trouble finding coordinated outfits; I just buy several different colors of whatever I find. Right now I’m very fond of Mini Boden, Old Navy, and the resale shop down the street. There must a family with girl/girl twins about a year older than S2 and H2 here in the neighborhood because I regularly run across sets of ‘twinny’ girl outfits there.

I haven’t really noticed either of them waiting patiently until they are both ready before they do something, at least not lately. They were much more inclined to act as a pair when they were littler. Now it’s much more likely that the one who is ready will either pester the not-ready one until she is ready - ‘H2, coat! Put on coat! H2! H2!!! Put on COAT!!!!!’ - or run on ahead, leaving her sister in the dust.

As far as their favorite food is concerned, that’s simple: ice cream.

Thank you again, Jenny!

And I’d still love more questions, if any of you all have some…
