Question: How Much Snow Does It Take

for Portland Public Schools to shut down?

Answer: This much snow.

It doesn’t snow much here. And, just like last year, the Cupcakes weren’t quite certain what to much of the strange, crunchy white stuff on the ground.

It look a while to get a picture of both girls looking up instead of down at the snow.

But I finally succeeded.

I even convinced them to walk over to the park.

Where S2 studied the snow a bit more, just in case this snow was different than the snow in front of our house.

Sadly, sledding was still out of the question as far as they were concerned.

Maybe next year…

Just to be fair to PPS so the district doesn’t look like a wimp to non Portlanders. There was a lot more snow at higher elevations, some black ice, and treacherous roads for driving school busses.

Wow, Rose and Marie are going to be so excited when they see these pics of H2 and S2 in the snow! They are in love with the idea of snow (haven’t actually tromped through the “real stuff” yet, just manmade crystals). They get out the little red mittens you sent them every time it gets cold and say “mih-ens, snowwwwwwww!” Sadly, they’ve only gotten to use the “mih-ens” in the rain thus far.
