Birthday Party Accomplished

And a good time was had by all. I know that all you really care about are the pictures, so here you go…

The party started early, 9:30 a.m., and most of the guests were still a little sleepy. Being the good hostesses that they are S2 and H2 broke the ice by racing around the birthday table, shrieking with joy.

The ice broken, the pint-sized guests more-or-less seated themselves at the table, parents at the ready, just in case.

I quickly lit the big number ‘3′ candles on the Cupcakes’ cupcakes with the one of the free courtesy matches we picked up from the neighbor convenience store on the way to the party. Ooops. Poor planning on my part. When I was a child my parents smoked, actually pretty much all adults smoked, finding something capable of lighting a birthday candle never required pre-planning back in those days.

We all joined in on a lovely and enthusiastic round of ‘Happy Birthday to You’. There was the obligatory near train wreck moment when we got to the ‘dear Sarah and Heike / Heike and Sarah’ decision point, but we rallied and and finished strong. With the singing out of the way the Cupcakes got down to business.

The kids got to spend the next hour or so playing in the Children’s Museum. The party package came with full-day admissions for all of the guests and their chaperones, but we had to leave at 11:00 to head off to another birthday party. Such a full social calendar…

I’m certain that my husband, being the thorough type, will have much more detail on the rest of our day, so I’m going to end here and leave you all with two final pictures of today’s guests of honor.
